John Norton,
b. 11/1/1749, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, PA: d. 7/6/1822, Harrisburg,
Dauphin, PA He was a carpenter and a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary
army. He also ran a tavern in Harrisburg. He owned an island in
the river that goes by Harrisburg. The island was located close
to where the state capital is now built. As with many of the Norton
financial dealing from John to the present day he was able to
"buy high and sell low".
